Student/Parent FAQ
How do I register my child for Young Scholars?
Registration for the Young Scholars Program is completed through UC San Diego's CASHNET Payment Portal. This is a 3rd party, contracted service made and coordinated by UC San Diego's Financial Services.
How much does each course cost?
Each Young Scholars Program course costs $500 per course, per student. For example, if you are registering 2 students for 1 course, it would cost $1000 total, excluding any service fees.
How do I apply my discount code to my order?
Discount codes can be entered towards the end of the registration process.
What is the refund policy for Young Scholars Program?
Barring exceptional circumstances (defined as severe personal illness accompanied with doctor's note, bereavement, and other situations deemed as an emergency), Young Scholars Program does not provide refunds.
All sales are considered final at the time of purchase. If an exceptional circumstance does occur, the parent/guardian must immediately inform the Young Scholars Program staff via email and the administrative leadership will review the case.
What is the policy regarding bringing food/drink for my student(s)?
Children are encouraged to bring their own food/drink, as the program will NOT provide food/drink during the Young Scholars Program. They will be provided a lunch area to enjoy the food and beverages they bring with them. A separate designated area will be provided for children with specific food allergies.
What is the administration of medication to students policy?
No Supervision or Administration
- Staff will not supervise or administer any medication, including over-the-counter or regular medications.
- Students must be fully capable of self-administering their own medications (e.g., inhalers, EpiPens) without assistance.
- Parents must provide written authorization and ensure that their child understands how to properly use their medication.
- Medications must be delivered to the program in their original, labeled packaging.
- Medications can be stored in a secure, accessible location designated by the program. Students must retrieve their medication independently when needed.
- If a student experiences a medical emergency, the director or trained staff member will respond using first aid, contact 911, and notify the parent/guardian immediately.
- Parents will be informed of this policy at registration to ensure they understand the program’s limitations.
Are there any other materials/supplies my student should be bringing with them for their course?
Required course materials vary course-to-course. For technology courses, it may be necessary to bring WiFi-enabled devices (e.g., Chromebooks, Thinkpads, etc.) Please refer to the Course Schedule to determine which courses may require WiFi-enabled devices.
